MidNite Solar MNKID-B Charge Controller, 30A, 150V

Midnite Solar’s MNKID-B 30 amp MPPT charge controller offers so many wonderful features that we’re at a loss for words! The KID is ideal for tiny renewable energy systems because it supports genuine input paralleling. As your power requirements increase and you require moreover 30A, add more modules to the array and a second KID. This will provide twice the power from a single array and will serve as the system’s 60A charge controller. For even greater potential, up to 12 charge controllers can be coupled together, providing a wonderful, scalable solution.

The KID 30A MPPT charge controller from MidNite Solar is perfect for modest PV-powered renewable energy installations. As your energy demands increase, add a second KID in parallel to get twice the power from a single array. This modular charge controller is compatible with 72 or 60 cell modules. The KID is the only medium-sized charge controller that complies with NEC 2011.

FAQs: MidNite Solar MNKID-B Charge Controller

☁️  Can I use MNKID-B Charge Controller with a 1600 watt PV set up at 48 volts?

🔎  You can use MidNite Solar’s sizing tool to measure if you can use this MidNite Solar MNKID-B Charge Controller with a 1600 watt PV set up at 48 volts.

☁️  Can I use MNKID-B Charge Controller with a 600 watt PV set up at 12 volts?

🔎  The wattage will be enough; but, it will be limited to 30A during peak sunshine, whereas the array could be capable of close to 50A under optimal conditions with a larger controller like the MNKID-B. (600/12=50). Having the array set to 24V rather than 12V would be preferable for maximum performance, especially if your batteries are flooded and require a frequent equalization cycle.

☁️  Does MNKID-B Charge Controller come with a better wall mount?

🔎  The MidNite Solar MNKID-B MPPT Charge Controller includes a wall mount adapter.

☁️  Will MNKID-B Charge Controller works well if the solar panels are facing different directions?

🔎  It won’t be a problem at all. Your solar input, on the other hand, must be at least 30% more than your battery bank voltage.

☁️  Should an inverter be connected to the batteries or to the load terminal on the MNKID-B Charge Controller?

🔎  Because of the surge capacity required for an inverter, the caution sign on the box clearly states: WARNING, do not connect an inverter directly to the load terminals on this device. If you want the inverter to cut out based on a battery bank situation, you can wire the load connected to a relay that operates the inverter’s output or input, managing the power outflow without damaging the charge controller.
