The IQ4’s Bulk Stage allows the batteries to be charged using the charger’s full rated output. This extended charging period reduces the battery’s overall charging time.
Following the Bulk Stage, the IQ4 enters the Absorption Stage. This mode will run for up to 480 minutes (8 hours) to ensure that the battery is fully charged.
The IQ4 lowers the DLS charge voltage during the Float Stage. This lower voltage keeps the battery fully charged while reducing ‘gassing.’ The float stage in the IQ4 prevents battery boiling and bulging caused by prolonged exposure to higher charging voltages.
If the batteries remain in a “float stage” for seven days, the IQ4 will activate the DLS charger’s pre-programmed Maintenance Stage. This extends the life of your battery by dissolving any sulfate layer on its internal plates and prevents stratification, which can occur when a battery is not used for an extended period of time.
IOTA-IQ4: 4-Stage Smart Charge Controller for the IOTA DLS. Great for Storing Flooded Lead-Acid Batteries.
The traditional IQ4 Smart Charge Controller from IOTA provides four basic charging functions: BULK, ABSORPTION, and FLOAT, as well as a seven-day MAINTENANCE cycle. The IQ4 is an excellent way to keep your stored flooded lead acid batteries in good condition, such as in an RV that has been parked for extended periods of time.
The IQ Smart Charge Controller easily connects to your IOTA DLS Battery Charger’s Dual Voltage Jack. When you plug in your IQ module, the IQ Smart Charge circuitry is automatically activated. Your DLS will now provide your batteries with an automatic and trouble-free charging profile!
Note: External IOTA IQ Smart Charge Controllers do not work with DLS units that have internal IQ charge controllers.
The IQ4 progresses through the following stages while charging your batteries:

🔎 Does this come with the IQ lead wire?
💬 Yes, it does come with IQ lead wire.
🔎 Does this also include the charge/connection chord and how long is it?
💬 Yes, the connection cord is included. It is not particularly long. At least 16 inches, but possibly up to 18 inches. Longer cords, according to the instructions, hold back a bit of the current flow that the processor reads, altering the charge response.
