The Classic 250 SL Lite MPPT Charge Controller is a simplified SOLAR ONLY version of the Classics. The Classic 250 SL Lite charge controller has a graphical panel and a ground fault but no arc fault or Ethernet functionality. The Classic 250 SL has a maximum output current of 61 amps, an operating voltage of 250 volts, and is compatible with 12 to 72-volt battery systems.

As a result, multiplying 12 Volts by 100 Amps results in 1,200 Watt-hours per battery. 12,000 Watt-hours is the equivalent of ten batteries (12 Kilowatt-hours). A 50% discharge is equal to 6 kilowatt-hours. 4 panels are required to charge this with 5 hours of sunlight. I’m not sure how much direct sunshine you’d receive from fixed panels where you live, but six panels might suffice.

🔎 The MidNite Solar Classic 250 SL Lite charge controllers are designed for solar power alone and are not compatible with hydro or wind power systems. The “Lite” model is less expensive, but it lacks a Digital Display and Arc Fault Protection. In addition, instead of the graphical display included on the original Classic controller, the Lite version of this controller contains an LED indication panel with Dip switches. As a result, I believe that the full-function machine is an excellent investment.
